It'll be enough of the flight is on time, but if there's a delay, you'll miss the international flight. So it depends whether you'd rather spend several hours in the airport or have a small but real, chance of missing the connection. Personally, I'd take the early flight and kill time in the airport.
For this type of flight (US domestic, no extra security) I'd prefer longer than 1hr25 (I aim for 2 hours) because of the extra margin for the delay to the inbound flight. You probably have enough margin for a 45-50 minute delay and still make the connection.
It's up to you. If you absolutely have to be on the SNN flight I'd go for the longer layover. If it's not absolutely essential I'd go for the 1hr25, but I'd be prepared for being up to a day late or having to take up to three flights to get to SNN quicker.
I'd probably go for the 1hr25 and if things went wrong I'd chalk it up as an experience. Plus, if there's a serious delay on PHX-PHL and you find out about it at PHX before checking in your bags you could look for a rebooking "at source" - say PHX-JFK-SNN or PHX-LHR-SNN (on BA and Aer Lingus).
Another consideration to make is: are those flights on ONE ticket w/ the same airline (or an alliance CodeShare)?
I would not be comfortable with the 1:25 connection, but I always pad the time, just to not have to rush. I do end up with time on my hands, usually, but a glass of wine sure beats running, or missing a connection, especially to an international flight, which will likely begin boarding ~ 1 hr. before departure, and also have its gate closed, farther out from departure, than a domestic-only flight.
Good luck,

USB, where did PHX come from? Charleston SC is CHS, no?
I, too, would go for the longer connection, and even that's no guarantee! A few years ago, flying RIC-ATL-CDG, the earlier RIC flight I was booked on was delayed for weather, with the later flight also delayed. By the time I got to ATL, my flight to Paris was gone. I was rerouted via Pittsburgh the next morning, so I got one day instead of two days in Paris before traveling on via Eurostar to Ashford station.
I had travel insurance that covered my hotel and a couple of meals in ATL, FWIW.
I'd go with the longer connection too - unless you don't mind missing your next flight.
yea, I thought that was too short. Why is it even offered? Anyway I am definitely going with the longer time between planes. I can't miss my connection.
