We are staying at EPM beginning next week. Can anyone comment on whether or not the mosquitos have been really bad lately in this area? Or maybe a general comment on how they typically are in early August? Is mosquito repellent needing during the day? Thanks in advance.

My wife and I will be there (EPM) in just under 2wks for our 3rd visit. We travel there in August every year and have never experienced one mosquito bite! Call it luck I guess! I also have not seen any other threads mentioning problems with mosquitos. Hopefully someone else can shed some light on this topic for the two of us.

Hey Ryan. Thanks for the info. We have traveled to Cozumel, Playa etc. and have had issues with mosquitos before...hopefully this trip will be different. On another note do you recall if the resorts wifi connectivity is decent? One of our trip incentives was free wifi but I have experienced less than averedge results with wifi at resports in Mexico. Again, thanks for your input.

Depending on where you are at EPM the wifi can be spotty. I know for sure that the beach had no connectivity. Rooms and most of the other buildings have good connection but outdoor spaces can be hit and miss as well.

We go every Aug into Sept and I always get bit...I wear deet repellent at night if I am going to any outside dining area or to sit at Kafe Kafe after dinner... Never had one in the room or any inside restaurants...

I don't see the need for the repellent during the day, but at night you may want to spray your legs & feet. We had no problem connecting at the beach in April. Pool area was fine as well as the rooms. Sometimes it was a little slow, but always was able to connect.

410berry, thanks for the update on the wifi. They must have done some work on the signal strength since our last visit. Good to know!

Some people get bit more by skeeters. Even in my family, they don't like me, however my daughter gets eaten alive by them in the same area.. I use the theory that I have sour blood, and my daughter is just so sweet. Happens in Cancun all the time. I also believe that skeeters stay much closer to stagnant water ( like the Moon Palace area, PM, and PDC.

Regarding Mosquitos, pick up a box of Off! towelettes or equivalent before you leave. When you get there, stick a couple in your pocket for evening time use. Very handy.

Just a question about the mosquitos:

Someone know which kind of mosquito is?

I'm asking because I stayed in a place* fully infested of borrachudos** and common repels didn't work. Plus, I'm allergic and this make everything worse :(

We never experienced anything I would describe as "Infested." More like the occasional, but equally annoying, mosquito you will see and/or experience anytime you are outdoors for any length of time. Species? No clue.
