This shows what a low-snow winter we had.
Lassen Loop is almost always the last of the mountain roads to reopen from winter closures, and sometimes it doesn't happen until mid-July. I've seen patches of snow remaining on the main road into August.
Now that summer is practically here, all we need to worry about is fire season.Edited: 30 May 2012, 2:11
I haven't been up there yet, but from a a distance it looks mostly snow covered. It will be really pretty up there.Edited: 30 May 2012, 2:30
Talk about lucky! We arrive tomorrow (6/2). Can't wait.
Let us know what it's like, Virginia. According to the ChicoER, it did open yesterday although the NPS hasn't updated their road conditions page yet.
The road is closed today due to a late season snowstorm. I'm sure that it will reopen soon.
The main road is back open.
I saw they just flipped the sign this morning.
