My husband and I and our 3 children just returned from an amazing vacation to St. Lucia. We stayed at Villa Serendipity and were blown away by the accomodations and service. On the other hand we had a horrible experience with drive-a-matic car rentals. On our arrival the car was delivered to the airport. We barely made it up the hill to our villa as the 4x4 vehicle had absolutely no power. They delivered another car the next day. The first time we drove it my husband and I went with the maid to get groceries. We stopped twice to see why it was swaying and had a loud grinding noise in front. My husband called them immediately and they stated that they knew about the sound and it was a minor problem to not worry. My husband said this is not a minor problem and insisted on a new vehicle. It took them a day and a half to get one to us and the final vehicle was fine. Then to our horror they called us 5 days later and stated that we are responsible for the suspension damage to the second car. We had our witness the maid and villa owner call them and tell them that the car was damaged from the moment we received it. They said they were investigating. We went back and forth and finally returned the last car for fear they would make up something and charge us. They also told my husband that they had witnesses seeing us drive irratically in some far away city that we dont even know. We actually laughed and couldnt believe the audacity and lies. Now we have returned home on the 15th of July. I called our CC company and lo and behold they have charged our credit card for the $250.00 damage deductable. Even though we declined their insurance because American Express covers us. We now have our CC company doing their own investigations and hopefully all will be resolved with us not having to pay for this. We want anyone who reads these boards to NOT use their services. This company cannot be trusted and will possibly do this to another customer.
