We stayed at La Jolla for two weeks at the end of July 2009. We are owners and were frustrated with our contract so we decided to stay and see how the resort was operated. The so called resort was a disapointment. The construction on the tower has been stopped due to lack of investment money, no activity sinse April 2009, it was ok for the owner Fernando Labato to park his 2008 yellow corvette outside the gate and tell us they have no money to continue construction, so much for having the resort complete by 2009. Every person we met at the resort was a owner or a person with RCI Points and they were so disapointed on how the resort was operated and how slow it is taking to complete. The pool on various occations had so many bugs in it, swimming was not an option, the pool workers would pour in chlorine every couple of days, the level of the water was so low the filter system would not work, the pool bar is not operating, the resturant is open until 1:00 and used for the timeshare guests, the staff leave at 2:00 and one person sits in the office until 9:00 and then the resort is left to the people who are staying there, the only secureity is by the front gate gaurd, if any issues arise you wait for the morning staff, we had to buy our own bottled water for two weeks, careful when showering or brushing your teeth with the resort water, if you have kids, don't drink the resort water, the shuttle service from the resort was when there was a driver available, to return to the resort, there is a one time return at 5:00, meet at Golds Gym in the Golden Zone, after waiting 20 minutes we used our own cab three times as no resort driver showed up, every Friday afternoon and night the staff would invite their freinds and family and use the pool and resort for their own use, once we started to complain about the resort, RCI Points, and general contract errors of our ownership of La Jolla, Mr Fernando Labato told us if we are not happy we are free to leave, there are no refunds, so we left and went to Emerald Bay where they know the words "customer servous". So we have also filed a complaint with PROFECO, maybe if enough people complain and file a complaint the resort may get the mesage that customer servous is important. On the last day of staying in Mazatlan we were given a flyer on the street telling the people on the street that Boutique La Jolla was a SCAM and beware of purchacing. The word is out that La Jolla have Ripped-off to many people. The bad news is out and people are starting to tell as many people as possible about La Jolla, as will I untill I get satisfaction of my contract. Check the reviews on the RCI website about the resort.
