Looking for a few great restaurants to visit!
Puerto Madero BUT Jose Luis has to be working. Regardless of where we stay we always dine at Puerto Madero our first night in Cancun and once again before we go. Jose Luis has been one of our favorite servers for over 10yrs!!!
Puerto Madero has something for everyone. .. great beef from Argentina, fresh local seafood, and beautiful sunsets outside on the patio overlooking the lagoon.
Great suggestion - thank you!
Ruth and Chris is the finest restaurant, ad their 699 pesos 3 courses deal, if dine before 6PM is excellent value, You get yummi tomatoe & crab soup,
then trio, see picture: http://dreamdays.com/ruthandchris.jpg
Then dessert (one to choose) see picture: http://dreamdays.com/ruthcancun.jpg
Edited: 10 years agoThank you DreamDays. I'm looking more for some local, non-chain restaurants to visit. We enjoy Ruth's Chris, but we have one of those here in Pittsburgh.
Then Cenacolo Mare, on lagoon side, their seafood casserole with black pasta is very - very good, went there 3 times for same dish
Puerto Madero is international, not really "local"
I love Thai at la Isla mall and Rolandis for pizza in Cancun.
If you're looking for authentic and delicious Mexican food, you MUST try Pik Nik (located in downtown Cancun). You can find them on FB here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pik-Nik-Cancun/427982013984679
Also, there's a restaurant called La Troje which offers a 30% discount off the entire menu on Tuesday evenings. The pasta carbonara was seriously good!
Enjoy your trip!

Taqueria El Poblano on Yaxchilan near the Ramada in Cancun centro. Plastic chairs, not fine dining, but really delicious tacos and tortas al pastor. There are several locations, but I think it's a local, not national, chain.
El Fish Fratanga....Nothing fancy....Good grub.......Across from police station in Hotel Zone
Puerto Madero and Cambalanche (same owners) - hands down. Ruth's Chris is a chain. You can eat the same food in multiple locations in the US. It's good but nothing special. Harry's has been good, too. We love to go to Lorenzillo's for their lobster and shrimp as well as their location but for dinner - we always go to Puerto Madero.
