Cheapticketscancun.net. Is it a SCAM??? |
|
Just last week I received junk fax offering 6 days 5 nights all-inclusive stay at 5-6 stars resort in Cancun (list include Melia Tarquesa and Omni Hotel & Resort) for only $321 per person but have to buy a minimum of 2 person. As a bonus, they give me 3 days 2 nights hotel in Vegas. They promised me that there is no timeshare seminar that I have to attend. I bought into what they said and purchased it for 2 people. 3 days after I received DHL delivery containing reservation form for both Cancun and Las Vegas. The letter that came with it said it is from Travelcomm.com and as quoted from the letter "Travelcomm is the vacation fulfillment company for the vacations you have recently purchased". After I read the discussion forum on the internet about this company I started to think that I am being scammed. I called back to the Cheapticketscancun.com and wanted to cancel. They kept transferring me to their managers and all of the were very rude. They said that they are located in Cancun but none of them have any Spanish accent. They told me that when I purchased the packaged I was informed on about the no cancellation policy and all of the phone conversation was recorded. That was their threat to me and I felt useless. Could it be that Cheapticketscancun.com is another company that Travelcomm.com has just created? I want to cancel in writing and will mail the letter to all of the address I can find associated with two of this companies. I have called my credit card company to dispute the charge (the charge has gone through) with the basis of scam. Credit card company said that the charge came from "Mexico Vacations" and it's not Travelcomm. com. I don't know if I am able to dispute the charge. The credit card company told me that I will be given the answer in 30 days. Please advise me what my chances are of getting my money back. Will they send me confirmation of my cancellation? |

I also got a fax at my company. Luckily, I got a little suspicious about the price and how I was pushed into giving my credit card information. I immediately told them on the phone that I can't make a decision right now and will have to get back to them. They cut me off before I can finish the above sentence. They have changed their website to choosecancun.com. Definitely a scam. I am wondering what would be a good way to warn everyone about this scam. I truly hope no one else will fall for this again.

I see a lot of people who tried to get their money back and have not been successful at doing so, but what I am wondering is, has anyone ever gone on one of these trips that he/she paid for? Is the trip itself a scam, what happens if you do go on the trip?

iammelanie it is really hard to prevent these type of scammers since they will always keep changing their name. People just have to be smart about what and how they shop. If something seems to good or to cheap to be true then it probably is.

Can anyone please tell me how to cancel this and receive a refund?? It has only been a couple of days for me since I purchased the vacation package. I feel so stupid after reading all of the forums. Will someone please help me???

I am in the process of trying to book a resort however, after reading these forums I no longer interested in trying to continue with taking this trip.

Well wish me luck!! I also booked a vacation through "yourcancunvacation.com" though my office fax. I've been through the same drill as the rest of you, additional costs, hotels not available, etc etc. Anyhow I quickly realized it was a scam once I tried to book my dates. I figure if I can't beat them; join them. I was already out of money so I paid the additional fees, (talked them down a little), booked dates at the Omni. My dates are April 15 to 20, I recently called the Omni, just to be sure they had a reservation for me, they did! So my wife and I are going to cross our fingers, get on the plane, and pray everything goes well. I really want to know if there is any one who actually went on the trip? How was it? Was it worth it?

My family and I went on one of these trips in March 2008. We went through the same hassles, it was horrible, with trying to get our vacation booked with these people. We were past our 30 days and had purchased plane tickets so went through with the vacation. We ended up staying at the Paradisus Riviera in the Mayan Riviera. The resort was awesome. We did have to attend a timeshare presentation or whatever they want to call it. It wasn't too bad....met with a lady for breakfast, visited with her, then went to the office with a man, sat through a video and their whole talk, politely said "no thanks", another man came out, said "no thanks" again and were on our way to enjoy the rest of our vacation. This company is terrible to work with though. My best advice when working with them is BE PERSISTENT!! Ask for supervisors...if they say they are in meetings or give you excuses, hang up and call right back and talk to someone else cause most likely "amazingly" that supervisor might be available all of a sudden. If they want to call you back, tell them you will wait on hold until someone is available. Keep calling until you get someone to work with you....they have so many people, you should eventually luck out and get one that will work with you. Good luck!! Just try to make the most of your vacation even if you booked with a very crappy company!!!

How do they continue to get away with this?? I don't want to settle for a mediocre vacation but I guess for the price what do I expect. I was fine with the agreement and it wasn't the non-refundable that bothered me. It was when they tried to add on other fees and costs and I had problems booking a resort/hotel. I am still in my 30 days and I am fighting because they did not comply with the initial agreement that I signed for. How are they still in business!!!!!!

Would someone be so amazing as to email me a copy of the US Today article and any suggestions that might come on handy when I get back on the phones with the Credit Card Company and the Travel Scam Artists?? The credit card company is being beyond useless and I'm starting to get nervous. Any and all suggestions from the experienced would be greatly appreciated! My email adddress for the article is CMSmith@HRPStudio.com. Thanks!!

Good luck to deflicted who is deciding to go along with his trip. However, I am still within my 30 days to cancel and am fignting for my refund. I appreciate everyone who has took the time to comment or write something. You all have been a tremendous help. I was surprised yet relieved to find this community of unsatisfied customers who have been tricked by this S#$%&y company.
