Can anyone tell me about how long a walk it is to 5th Avenue? Staying at Royal Haciendas. Want to walk some, but not like miles. We will take the bus if it's too long a walk. Also, is it a hike from the resort to get the bus or is the bus just out the hotel and down the driveway?

I would also like to know the answers to these questions. We will be staying there in July and any info about Royal Haciendas is greatly appreciated.

It's way too far to walk.... You'll definitely need to take a taxi or colectivo unless the resort has some kind of shuttle service.

The resort does have a shuttle service. You have to sign up for your shuttle time. Sometimes it is full.

Thank you. I'm not the best walker, so shuttle or taxi or bus it is.

Unless they have reduced the $$ on the items in the Hacienda Grocery, I would recommend going to the Mega Mart in Playa Del Carmen as soon as you can. Sign up for the shuttle and the shuttle stop in Playa is 4 blocks (easy walk) to the Mega Mart. The Haciendas were reasonable with their prices until this year. Going to the Mega Mart will save you big dollars. I would suggest getting a taxi back to the resort and there are taxi's at the Mega Mart, cost is $12.00.

Walking.....We walked part the golf course that wasn't completed, but not sure if they will let you do that in July, because it should be pretty close to being completed. But the main road to the resort is a nice walk and the golf course is on both sides of that road.

If you are a golfer the cost is $65 (green fee and cart) and you can rent clubs at the Haciendas for free. Great, great golf course and $65 is a bargin.

The Hacienda's........The resort is super clean and the staff is great. The resort grounds are beautiful. The beach is perfect, but there are only certain areas were you can get int the water due to the coral. Visit the sports activities counter to get snorkeling gear if you want to snorkel. There is also scuba diving available. When you check in get the activities calendar. The Welcome party on Sunday is in phase II. Free drinks and a Mayan Show, which is very nice. You will also get an invitation to one of the Taco Lunches (they are held on Tues & Weds - I think) Free tacos and beer. Happy Hour is everyday from 3:00pm - 5:00pm, 1/2 priced drinks and they don't short you on the liquor. Just make sure that what you get is a happy hour drink. We make a few trips into Playa for Dinner (Alux really neat place to eat - google it for info), order a pizza one night. We also got the All you can eat Prime Rib dinner at the Resort which was the best meal I had in Mexico during our last trip.

The wine and cheese resort presentation party is very informative, a lot of info about the Royal Resorts. The Information meeting is Sunday morning and provides some good info. Don't be afraid to use your conceige to assist you with tours, reservations or general info.

Wow. That's a lot of excellent information. We're in unit E which is on the beach and near one pool - I think. I'll sign up for the shuttle when we get there for the next day and get supplies. I already have a list. I'm so anxious to get there. I am looking forward to the activities. When we went to Cancun last year, we stayed at the Westin which was next door to a Royal. The Royal sounded like a lot of fun and I hear they have more activities at Haciendas. 10 days before we go.
