half day horse ride to the tea house |
|
Rose, I don't think that you should have any concern that anything but "quiet" horses would be used for something like this as the provider would need to be catering for all potential clients. I might also consider the same thing myself, and I have a crook back and have not been on a horse for over 45 years. Report as inappropriate

Rider safety is very important to these operators. By August, after a busy summer up and down that trail, my guess is that those horses will be so quiet that they will be barely awake. I'm sure you will enjoy a safe and gentle ride, and the views will be absolutely outstanding. However, if you don't normally ride, you may find a sustained downhill on horseback to be a bit uncomfortable. You may want to be prepared for some sore spots - be sure to choose trousers that do not have a rough or prominent inner-leg seam. Report as inappropriate

We will be visiting September 20. Will the horse ride to the tea house still be operating this time of year. Will the tea house be open. Thanks Report as inappropriate

We did a very enjoyable 2 hour Lake Head ride with them and it was the beginning of Oct 2007. The guide was called Chris and he was wonderful. They match you up with horses according to your experience. No problems at all. Have a great time! If you come across a horse called Leroy give him an extra pat for me will you? :0) Report as inappropriate

As a horseman myself I'm going to caution you as novices that your rear ends, legs, feet and backs are going to be hurting even on a short trip let alone a half day ride. Report as inappropriate

I do lots of horse trips on vacations. You will be sore- legs for sure, and possibly back. And you will feel it the next day if you ride for several hours. But you will see things others don't. No better wqay to see back coutry. We are arriving Sept 9 and expect to ride in Jasper in Golden, and Wells Gray. By the way, the horses will be gentle- I guaranty. Walking only in the parks- I have checked. Report as inappropriate

The Lake Agnes Horseback Riding Trip would be a great half day trip for a beginner. Both Brewster Mountain Adventures and Timberline Tours offer this particular trip. Not only are the horses well maintained, but they also try to limit the rides to 6 people or less. banfflakelouise Report as inappropriate

Do you have a preference over either company? Will the tea house still be open for the season September 20. Thanks Report as inappropriate

We just returned from a week's vacation in this area and did a 5 hour ride with Timberline Tours. I would recommend them whole heartedly. We had a great ride to the Plain of Six Glaciers and the Teahouse there(not the Lake Agnes Tea House). The horses are very gentle and the ride is great for inexperienced as well as experienced riders. The horses know the trail so well that just stroll along with no need to guide them at all. It is about a 2-1/2 hour ride up and a 1/2 hour at the teahouse and a 2 hour ride back down to Lake Louise. They are located behind Deer Lodge on Lake Louise Drive across the street from the lake.
