Hi, as part of a larger US/Canada trip my husband and I (late 20's early 30's) are flying into Vancouver on 25 Oct 2012 and out on 1 Nov 2012. During this time we wanted to see as much of Vancouver as possible but also some of the Rocky Mountains. I'm unsure how long we'll need to do this and also which transport to use (the Rocky Mountaineer doesn't operate during this time). From what I've read, hiring a car would be best but coming from Brisbane, Australia, we're not familiar with driving in snow (I'm also nervous about driving on the other side of the road!). Will there be snow/ice at this time of year? Which location is best in the Rocky Mountains considering our tight timeframes, Banff? How long would it take to drive from Vancouver to Banff? Sorry for heaps of questions, any advice would be appreciated! We can't wait to explore this part of the world!
