What is the best time to go to Churchill to see the bears?

Middle of October to middle of November. Once the ice freezes on the Hudson Bay they are gone.

Been up twice, I would wait until the very end of Oct into early Nov. The larger bears wait until the ice is very close to being formed.

The besttime is fall - October to early November. Note - virtually all of the accommodation has been booked by tour operators so finding a room on your own is a challenge.

Having done this visit in the last week of October 2007, we saw about 12 bears a day, which was more than tours of previous weeks, but on our return tours over the next few weeks saw quite a few more.

So I would have thought that early to mid November is one of the best times, but this is all dependant on the weather because as soon as the ice is there the bears are off.
