Not sure, Dan. They give each person a numbered Queue card when they arrive in the queue. This is a place holder for you...so you can use the loos, go get a drink etc without someone taking your place.I don't know how the marshals treat people coming along and interjecting themselves into the Queue. I guess you could say my partner's right behind me and ask for two Queue cards....but your partner would definitely need to be there if you wanted to get access to court tickets rather than just two ground passes.
After they start moving people forward when the campers have to pack up, the marshals begin issuing the Court tickets to those at the front...we got wrist bands for the right to purchase tix to Court 2 on them (and this was from arriving at 6am). One band per person.
