The Yorke Arms at Ramsgill isn't boutique by any stretch of the imagination, but to me it would be a wonderful place for a wedding reception. It is a picture postcard building in a gorgeous little Dalesvillage, and it serves the best food I have ever eaten. It has rooms too for those who want to stay over. It's in quite an isolated location in Nidderdale though - but very romantic!

Easier to reach, and also nice, is The Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey. Lovely setting and great food - and just off one of the main trans-Pennine roads so a good location in practical terms.

I am not sure if the Wensleydale Heifer does wedding redeptions, but again it does wonderful food (England's Seafood restaurant of the year no less)in a beautiful Dales setting, and has rooms too. The same goes for the Angel at Hetton - wonderful food, and rooms too.

Over the Border into Lancashire is Northcote Manor - not the Dales but worth a look.

This place does weddings and has a large house with rooms and log cabins in the grounds for guests. Lots of hot tubs as well!

I think you would describe it as informal - it's unusual anyway!

Not sure you'd describe it as in the Dales but it's still in Yorkshire!

Highly recommend Yorebridge house in Bainbridge - perfect Wensleydale setting - boutique hotel - amazing food - stunning rooms, some with private hot tub. New venue so a fantastic find.

What a lovely idea . You ask about the "Reception",

what about the ceremony? . Are you looking for a

hotel licenced for weddings or are you marrying in

Church ? big difference.

Many of the suggestions are nowhere near a church.

If the former , then the Red Lion at Burnsall has a

new wedding suite furnished in natural oak by local

craftsmen. Right on the river and ample parking.
