My husband and I are traveling to Scotland this summer and were looking for a good centrally located hotel for 2 nights before heading further into the Highlands. any suggestions?

Thanks

Despite lovely grounds and a nice website, I would discourage you from booking the Atholl Palace- we found it to be over-priced for the service and accommodation we got last Spring- that may have changed, but I doubt it. We found ourselves wishing that we had booked into the Moulin Inn and will on our next visit to the very lovely and central (to many attractions) town of Pitlochry.

Thanks. We were looking at the Green Park Hotel which was listed highly on tripadvisor.

My brother and his wife have stayed at the Moulin Inn ,just outside Pitlochry and enjoyed it very much.I have been there a couple of times for meals and the food is great. The Edradour Distillery is a very pleasant walk away from there.

Hi, Is the Moulin Inn the same as the Moulin hotel? Because the Moulin hotel seems to have some really quite dreadful reviews. Can anyone clarify?

thankyou

It's the same place.

the reviews don't look that great do they.

I can only speak as I find.mind you it has been at least 18 months since I was there and at least a year since my brother and SIL visited.

We stayed at the Bridge of Tilt hotel in Blair Atholl, in 2006. The hotel has one review on TA that is negative, but when we were there, we were charmed by our room in the main building, on the top floor ( first floor there, second floor here). Our dormer window afforded the most tranquil view - which became spectacular after it rained. The building is old, yes, and the room was small but cosy - we felt we were staying at someone's home. Blair Castle is almost next door and the town of Pitlochry is a 5 -10 minute drive away. I believe the other rooms (in an adjacent extension/wing) are not as good; but ours suited us just fine. Breakfast was okay; we took it up to our room and ate while watching the view.

Thanks. Based on the other posts I will look into the hotel you suggest and the room.

EliseVA: If you or someone else can tell me how to send photos of the hotel ( that we took during our stay) to you via your PM feature, I'll be happy to pass them along.
