Any recommended stops between Dingle and Lahinch?

AA says it should take 4 hours, including an incredibly optimistic estimate of 20 minutes for the Tarbert ferry. (Guess there's no waiting.) We'll have a four year-old who will need to be freed from her car seat. Are there any short side trips worth making? Any recommendations of scenic places for picnic lunches?
