If you had 3 days in Dingle, how would you spend it? Yes, we have a car.

Hi Linda4294. I spent 2 nights in 2005 and I'm going back for 3nts over this St. Patricks Day. You will love Dingle. Definitely do Slea Head drive....I think I was more impressed by that than the Cliffs of Moher. Take a trip to see the Galarus Oratory....very interesting. If you're into pottery, definitely drive over to Louis Mulcahy's studio.

You don't mention what time of year you are going? Weather permiting, there's always a boat ride (or a swim with) Fungi the dolphin in Dingle harbor. And a trip over to the Blasket Islands. I don't think I'll be doing either of these in March....but will definitely get back one day in the summer to do it all. You'll have a great time because there's good food & lots of pubs there.....

It is easy to spend three days in Dingle!

One of the days you can spend just walking around, visiting the shops, going for a walk along the harbour, possibly going out on a boat to see Fungi, stopping for a pint somewhere...

Another day you HAVE to follow the Slea Head Drive (plenty of attractions to stop at - just a word of warning: you will see a few signs for "prehistorical beehive huts" - these beehive huts are old but they are NOT prehistorical!), possibly going out to Blasket Islands. If you don't want to do the boat trip you can follow the Slea Head Drive signposts all the way out to Brandon Creek (do visit Gallarus Oratory as Cruiseking says. Again a tip: don't enter through the visitor centre where you have to pay admission, just follow the road up a little and you will find the original carpark for the Oratory. Just climb over the stile and follow the fuchsia-lined path.)

Another day you can drive over the Connor Pass, turn left at the bottom to Cloghane and follow the road out to Brandon Point with its wonderful views over Tralee Bay and the northside of the peninsula. After that you can drive back towards Castlegregory and go for a lovely walk along Fermoyle Beach.

Just a few things to do in the Dingle peninsula...

Now where did I get this stupid word "prehistorical" from...?

The beach with the Ryan's Daughter stone is called Coumenoole and is just a wonderful spot. From the carpark you can also climb up to the top of Dunmore Head and have a look at the Ogham stone. There's a fantastic view over the Blaskets from there.

sdcash, I haven't had a chance yet to look at your postings on youtube but I will!

Thanks for asking and answering this post. You have been extremely helpful for our trip in July Two more bits of info I would love to have:

Are there any beaches around Dingle for a little girl who loves to collect shells?

Good pub for hanging out in case it rains?

There are lovely beaches at Inch, Ventry, Coumenoole and Clogher. And of course Fermoyle on the northside of the peninsula. Strangely enough I don't remember seeing too many shells at any of them but I am sure there are some.

Pubs in Dingle! There are none! Only joking. We like O'Flaherty's (at the roundabout, traditional music most evenings but your little girl won't be able to stay after 9 pm), Droichead Beag (the Little Bridge, trad music every evening) at the turn for the Connor Pass, D**k Mack's (opposite the church in Green St, sorry, can't type the full name because of TA), Murphy's on Strand St and Paudie's Bar on Strand St (Paudie's also serves good pub food). You will probably find your own favourite. Most pubs have music on most evenings.

If I had 3 days to spend in Dingle, I would certainly return to Great Blasket Island. The ferry leaves from Dúnquin. Preferably take an early one, since if you're going a bit off-season, the captain is likely to allow you a limited time (like 1 hour or 1,5 hour) on the isalnd before picking you back so his day finishes early. A truly lovely place for hiking (2 hours to walk around and up the island), for a nice picnic if you brought your own food, and wonderful view over the Dingle peninsula.
