I have a 10 a.m. flight out of Shannon for the States and would like to eliminate staying in Limerick.
I was planning to take a taxi early morning from Tralee to the airport. Does anyone know what the fare would run?
Thanks much

Wow - that's about a 2 hour trip, assuming it can be arranged I'm guessing the fare would be quite a bit of cash....is this really your only option? I'm imaging something like 100+ euro or more?
In addition to imaging I'm also imagining lol.
It is a distance of 130km (80 miles) from Tralee to Shannon Airport. This is likely to take 2 hours with having to go through Limerick city(until new ringroad complete) so a taxi would be quite expensive. I would imagine up to €150 at a guess.
You could take a bus from Tralee to Limerick and then a bus to Shannon or else a taxi to Shannon from Limerick which wouldnt be too much. There is a bus from Tralee to Limerick at 615am arriving Limerick at 820am. I would imagine at this hour the bus will be on time or early as there will be no traffic so you can get the 825 bus to Shannon, or failing this a taxi. If like me you dont mind arriving 60-90 mins before a flight go for it as the bus from Tralee to Shannon is only €14.
I think it might be wiser to stay closer to the airport though for some peace of mind. I reckon the journey would work out on the bus but you dont want to miss your flight. Its not just a straightforward draw a line between tralee and Shannon type of journey, as the largest mountain range in Ireland is in Kerry so that is why it is a longer journey than a map would make you think

This schedule would kind of scare me if I were taking an International flight. I agree with the advice to stay somewhere closer to the airport if you're not going to spring for the taxi trip.
If you take the bus that morning you run the risk of showing up at the check-in counter 15-20 minutes before your flight starts boarding. Depending on the specific policy of the airline and maybe even on the mood of the agent, you might be denied boarding.
I get the impression you wanted to spend your last night in Tralee but:
I agree that the taxi would be expensive and that the bus trip would make things risky. Why not stay outside Limerick on the airport side. Bunratty area is an option and you should be able to catch an earlier airport bus or arrange for a taxi from there. Or better yet, stay at the airport in the Great Southern Hotel (4*)and you can walk across the parking lot to the airport after a layin and breakfast - no rushing invloved. You bus tickets and a single room with B'fast will probably cost close to or less that a taxi.
Just returned from our wonderful trip to Ireland.
Reminder: you MUST be at the airport at least two hours in advance. We were and had no wiggle room. You must go through three security checkpoints if my foggy (Bullmers) memory serves me right, including one at the gate where they pick through all your carry-ons. We also went through US immigration at Shannon. (The lucky US immigration guy loved living in Ireland!)
This means you must get to the airport by 8 AM, so you must leave Tralee by six at the very latest. And have nerves of steel. Yikes!
There seem to be several lovely B&Bs by the airport and near Bunratty. Why not stay in one of those places? Also, we found Limerick to be surprisingly interesting. One place the guide books did not mention is the pedestrian area, with good shopping.
