We will be arriving in Munich on May 13 and are wondering if there is shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. I have been told that a taxi will cost 60-70 Euros - that seems "steep" :-) I've also been told that traveling on the trains with luggage is not recommended.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

The airport is quite a distance from Munich.

I always travel to airports like Frankfurt, Stuttgart or Munich by train. Like many others. I've better ideas to spent my money than on high parking fees at the airport.

We travelled to the Munich airport on the train -- toddler in stroller, three weeks worth of luggage (including business clothes for work portion of trip) -- and it was fine. The trip lasts about 45 minutes between the airport and Marienplatz. You could always get a taxi at the city S-Bahn stop. (We walked from our hotel.)

The airport is incredibly far out in the boonies, so 60-70 Euros is not steep.

Probably would help if you stated what hotel. In any event, once you arrive at the airport, catching the S-bahn into downtown Munich is easy, just go to the center of terminal 1, ask the attendant at the desk what ticket you should get and what train you should take (there are 2, one goes around the east of town, the other the west, they both go through the center) and get on. As the airport is the end of the line, you should have no trouble sitting in the back/front next to your luggage.

There is also the LH (Lufthansa) airport bus. They have 2 designated stops in Munich. If your hotel is near one of the bus stops, it's inexpensive (around Euro10pp).

Google "lufthansa airport bus"
