Thanks so much for your help - if anything else comes to mind I'd love the advice. I graduated from Frankfurt High School in 1990 and have been back twice - never with children.

Frankfurt is a very walkable city, but the public transport is easy to use too. Buy a "gruppen karte" which is good for up to 5 people and is valid for the entire day.

As an option to staying in a hotel with a pool, there is a great indoor pool in the city, "Rebstockbad" with a wave pool and slide, sauna, etc for the parents if desired. The Hilton, though lovely, can be kind of pricey.

Other places for kids: The Communication Museum, The Hisorical Museum, The Archeology Museum, The Palmengarten, the Zoo of course, and the Christmas Market will still be in full swing during those days too.

When I have visited Frankfurt, I have found the area in front of Frankfurt Hbf a bit nasty. I don't think I would like to take children there.
