There is a lot if information with your computer. One travel book I like is:
:With Google, type: frommer. Then at "search frommer's.com", type: Munich, Germany, or, Vienna, Austria, or Milan, Italy, or whatever place you are interested in.
With Munich (and Vienna), click "Walking tour 1." This is as centrally located as possible -- notice Marienplatz. To find a hotel, go to Maps and below "Interactive Map", click VIEW MAP. Zoom in to about the 6th or 7th level from the top(where there is a plus sign, on the left-hand side). (Sometimes you have to go back and forth with the plus and minus levels to center on downtown.) At the outside bottom of the map, on the left-hand side, it says "Hotels", and click the square for that. A whole bunch will appear around Marienplatz. Click any and the name, address will pop up and you can find what Frommer has to say, and average rates.
For Vienna, repeat the procedure -- notice Innere Stadt(inner city/circle),and Stephansplatz.
Milan has no walking tours, but you can still VIEW MAP, and look for the Duomo. Here with the hotel prices, you may have to look around the main train station. You can verify with places of interest or attractions. Frommer has information and a book for northern Italy.
With Tripadvisor you could go to the forums for Munich, Vienna, Milan...
If you want to find the exact rate(per night) of any hotel, you can check with Expedia, for "Hotels". Enter the city, country, the hotel, time in and out, and CHECK RATES. If the hotel is on it's list, and is available, you will get additional information. I find Expedia a good source of details and it's free to browse.
If you are planning a 12 day trip and it includes flight time, you have 10 days left. Most cities can't be visited in one day, so you may have to be selective.
Hope this helps. Comaje
