Hotel recommendation near Termina Station |
|
Hi, My husband and I will be arriving Rome in mid March and would like to get a room near the railroad station. We want to spend a day at Pompeii, as well. So being near the station might help. Can you recommend an inexpensive hotel motel or whatever that is close by the station? Anything under a hundred dollars a night would be helpful. Thanks. |

Have been following this post as I'm also planning a trip to Italy, including Rome. Is it realistic to expect to be able to walk to the more popular sights from Termini area?

Walking from Termini Stn to various sites is possible, but it is very hard on your feet as the cobblestones are killers. We walked lots of places from Termini and back to Termin but it's not something I would recommend to all people.

There isn't any reason to walk since you can catch the metro at Termini and it will take you to or at least near most of the sites.

The previous poster is absolutely correct that you can catch the metro or buses from Termini, but sometimes half the fun in a new city is exploring it on foot and finding those unexpected surprises. Why not try a combination of various modes of transport ? We did but we spent the majority of our time walking and looking at the buildings, stopping here while heading to a national monument etc...just as we did wherever we went on our trip.
