We're going to be in Switzerland (staying in Murren near Interlaken) for about 2.5 days (not much time) in August. The only time we'd be able to do the Golden Pass is on our way to another train, a night train to Rome. We'd take the Golden Pass from Interlaken to Montreux from around 5 - 8pm, then have a little more than 2 hours in Montreux before hopping on the 10 hr train ride to Rome (sleeper train). We're wondering if the scenic train is worth it, it looks just beautiful. I'm just not sure if it will be too much train for one day...or we're missing a lot not staying the extra time in Murren (we'd take the overnight train from Spiez instead)? Also, if we are in Montreux on a Tuesday in August from about 8:30 - 10:30, will there be stuff to do, such as grabbing a nice dinner before heading on the train, or will everything be closed that late?
Thanks, I know it's a lot of questions at once.
