Thanks npj60, I was busy with the washing up when you replied.

Litsa. It is used alongside travel insurance and should give anyone from the UK access to the same state-provided healthcare as a resident of the (specified) countries visited

This isn't always the case but....................

>>>The EHIC card is available to everyone in the UK and it should be carried with you when you travel abroad. The EHIC card is not a substitute for travel insurance as it will not cover any private medical healthcare or for loss and theft of items.

Some insurers now insist you hold an EHIC and many will waive the excess if you have one.<<<

The magic word is "emergency". EHIC will give you free or near-free emergency or "necessary" treatment in Greece, but won't cover you for regular medical treatment or medication.

Good reminder by the way. I've just checked and mine expired last October. Ooops!

I'm glad then that I posted Tinsey.

Why they don't have a longer shelf life, I don't know! I thought we were safe for another couple of years but there you go! :O) :O)

You are welcome andony...The trouble is that being the same size, they get treated like a National Insurance card and just get stuck in a wallet or purse.

Nearly a tenner to renew, hence the short life, I suspect!! :O(
