Psirri area gives many chances to have this something "beyond". It's central and depending your hotel location it is easy to visit by foot. I would check "Cubanita" for Cuban music or any club having Greek music on "Taki" street. Every place is near each other and in foot distance.

Keep also in mind that we are going out late. . .Greeks live their nights as owls and 9:00 pm is considered: "uhmm. . .isn't it way too early?". 11pm seems ok to us and 01:00 am is still " i hate to go to sleep" time :))

Thanks Nick. Our hotel is near the Acropolis and about 10 minutes from Syntagma Square. It's our first visit to Athens and we want to make the most of it.

If it's on Acropolis side, Psirri is a long walk but depending the weather is a pleasant one. Keep in mind that till around midnight subway ( which is very clean and super convenient ) will zap you everywhere you want in central Athens.

Athens has many things to do. If your hotel is near Sygrou Ave.,

is a nice choice but NOT jazz at all. It's more of quite rock and contemporary ethnic - folk. It's called "Stavros toy Notou". You may like it but it's NOT for general audience. More rock, targeting to a 35 - 50 group.

Cubanita as said is a nice choice. Good thing it's central and you can take a look, or just have a drink and stay to burn out dancing or leave :) I always have good time there ( well, ok, some mohitos help too but hey! it's Cuban music, i am absolutely awful on dancing it - lol )

Grande Bretagne hotel roof top bar is a really good place to have a drink ( no music there ). Its main hit is view. It gets absolutely full 9 and later by hotel residents who ( if on good weather glass doors are open ) struggle ( just kidding ) for the 1 m$ view: Parthenon fully lit.

Hilton Hotel roof top bar ( Galaxy ) ( music but no dance there ) is really good too. Blue line towards Airport at stop "Evangelismos" will get you there. It's a 5 mins ride from there back to Acropolis area ( around 4 - 5 euros ). Views are stunning too. It's high rise - 12th floor - which is something not common here. Ok, i can see the chuckle: 12th floor is not so high in London, but hey! it's Athens. 6.5millions but on 5 - 6 floors buildings :) Galaxy has good views, desserts and nice ambiance.

I am sure other contributors will give their ideas. Due to a 20 to 30 "always in a club and on nightlife" crazy period, i always tend nowadays to more calm things, like these meals :)) , i think other people will have even more to contribute.
