I just just booked a week stay in Kos and wondered if there were any good places to do a bit of shopping or do I need to pop over to turkey to get a funky handbag or two

Hi there

Kos Town has a wide variety of shops. Vassilis Pavlou Street has a good selection of ladies' and menswear shop ; two of my favorites are More and More and D&G (for the ladies) and P& G for the gents. El Venizelou Street also has a very good mixed selection of shops including the Bodyshop, and the Hondos Center for perfumes, cosmetics, swimming costumes etc, sportswear, and lots more. There are two very nice shoe shops and a ladies sports wear shop (Goiddess) on 31st Martiou Street. One of my favorite shops for that extra special outfit is Spatz, right in front of the of main bus station next to another shoe shop. There is a very nice big square just of Vassilis Pavlou and behind Ippokratous Streets which is known locally as the "Greek Market" where you will find some very nice clothing and more shoe shops plus a shop called Kem selling nice Italian handbags. There is a very nice and very trendy handbag shop in the Old Town on Apellou Street on the left as you walk towards the Diagora Square. With the exception of the Old Town, shopping hours for the local shops are: Monday - Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and re-open from 5/6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. only. Most shops in the Old Town are open 7 days from 10 a.m. through to 10 p.m., a few of the jewelry shops close on Sundays.

Kardemena has some shops offering a lot of tourist tack. a lot more choice in Kos Town. Buses depart from Kardemena to Kos town at 07:30, 09: 50, 10:30, 11:00, 15:30 and 17:10 and Kos Town to Kardeman at 9:10, 10:20, 13:00, 14:30, 16:30 and 21:00 Mon-Sat. Bus fare is 2.90 Euro one way.

If you are planning to hire a car there is a new fashion outlet located on the main road (on the right) as you head in the direction of Kos Town (sorry can't remember the name).

The local shop start there summer sale the first week of August.

Nearly forgot! Another there is a nice handbag shop at the beginning of the Old Town on Ifestou Street - just behind a jewelry shop called Dion and the same owners (Georgia and Dion) which is well-worth checking out! Georgia has a very good collection of handbags for all budgets.

I hope this helps. Happy holidays and happy shopping.

Regards.
