Arriving Early in Copenhagen |
|
We will be arriving early in Copenhagen (around 7:00 AM). I presume we will be able to drop our bags off at the hotel, but I am wondering what to do after that. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |

Get a cup of coffee in the square. And visit the City Hall - Radhus. It opens at 8:00 Monday - Friday. I hope this help.

Thanks 2005trip. Sounds like a good idea to me! I am sure caffeine will help with the jet lag too!

I guess you wont be checking into your hotel until after lunch then? In that case, i recomend putting on yoy best walking shues, and start walking. I dont know in which part of town you are staying, but i would deffenetly go see the old part of town. Starting ny norreport station, and walking your way down. A trip to the best lookout point in the city rundetarn might be nice, though i know they dont open untill 10 AM. I would continue doen to the water, get a close up view of the parlement. Then over to the newly renovated city square, kongens nytorv. From there you have acces to the entire city. Only a few hundred meters away the famed Nyhavn, with all the old houses and the great canal. Eventhough thi will still be morning time, it might be a great chance to look at the place. Continue left for half a mile or so, and you will find Amalienborg Palace, Queens official recidence. You will be able to stand in the middle of it all. Go down to the water, and the beautifull amaliehaven by the water, and a view t the new operahouse. Directly behing it, the wonderfull Frederiks church, or Marblechurch as it is called. If it open, feel free to come inside, but be very silent. Maybe walk back to Kongens Nytorv. Depending on the time, a trip to Rosenborg close by, to the the crown jewels or take a walk in the kings garden, next to rosenborg Castle...Or perhaps a bit of lunch ar one of the many restaurants in the area... If yoy have any questions or wanna know more feel free to ask...

Hi Lots of hotels let you check in early if you let them know, some rooms are usually ready well before noon, if not still ready from the day before. If you have flown all the way from the USA then I'm sure they will be happy to let you have the first available room, I cannot imagine anything worse than not getting a few hours shut eye after a long journey. Just send them an email, or telephone. They all speak perfect english over there. Good luck Jackie
