Hi

My employers are sending me to work in Copenhagen for a month (August). It will be my first time and I’m really looking forward to it.

I know all about the standard tourist sites to visit, I’m hoping that you can all give me some ideas of other things to do when I’m not working.

I think it all depends on what you want to do...

Copenhagen is not that big a city - and with a month there you have a lot of time to see "everything".

What are your preferences? Meeting new friends and people watching? Partying? The fine arts? Shopping?

As the previous poster said, Cph is not a large city, so you'll have plenty of time to explore. But if you let us know a bit of your interests, it is easier to suggest things.

PS: With any luck, the weather will be fab in August, and you can spend your free time at one of the city harbour-beaches.

Louise

Thanks guys

I'm thinking about journeying further afield, rather than just staying in CPH. Can you give me any advice on places to visit, preferably places that i could make a one or two day trip to.

You can cross the bridge to Malmö in Sweden... It´s a nice little city which is perfect for spending the day. I think the Malmö festival is usually in August, with concerts in the streets and stalls selling food and handicrafts. Very nice for having a walk. There´s a museum where you can visit a submarine from WWII, which had my boyfriend running around pushing and pulling things like a 5-year-old for half an hour (OK, I admit it, me too!).

In CPH you should have nice weather in August, so just take it easy, walk through the streets and enjoy the atmosphere! You can find nice beaches in Northern Zealand, Hamlet´s castle in Helsingoer, and viking ships in Roskilde. I love Dragoer, a little town in Amager, south of CPH, with lots of atmosphere and a nice beach. If you want to go further away, the island of Bornholm is lovely (maybe for a weekend trip), and on Funen you can visit Odense, where HC Andersen was born, and Egeskov Castle, which is absolutely beautiful and includes a lovely garden and a museum of old cars and motorbikes.

In a month you have time for a lot of things, so enjoy!!
