Can anyone help with were the best tour to see Santa for my 4 year old would be in lapland - looking for log-cabin? budget - luxury.
if you want an all in totally taken care of trip then look at espirt and activities abroad - they both offer the all inclusive deal - the other option would be to go with inghams for a week and arrange all your trips with them
We went with Canterbury Travel on a 5 day trip to Luosto. Pricey but well worth it. My daughter, 11, still believes in Father Christmas due to this fantastic trip!
I know some people have had problems with them, but they seem to be with the flights rather than the holiday itself.

Edited: 13 years agoHi,
I worked for Canterbury Travel (or their Finnish partner to be exact) 9 years ago. Don't know whether they have changed much, but back then they were pretty good. Pricey indeed, but the trip is packed with activities and is really exciting for kids and adults both. They arrange charter flights in November - December.
If you want to travel on your own without a group, then there is Santa's village in Rovaniemi, open year-round, but you should definitely visit during late fall - winter - early spring because of snow. There is also a Santa Park close by. You can stay in Rovaniemi or rent a cabin elsewhere. Rovaniemi is not a very exciting town. What else are you interested in? Levi is a good winter resort, but Ruka (Kuusamo) is the most beautiful. Here are some links: http://www.rovaniemi.fi/Intro.iw3?lang=en, http://www.levi.fi/en/home.html, http://www.ruka.fi/winter_eng/. Husky, reindeer and snowmobile safaris are arranged in any of these places. Individual travel is rather easy in Lapland and there shouldn't be any language problems.
Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

these forums are to share info, asking to take it off line really does nothing for there rest of the people who come here - or is it that there is an alternative reason to offering help off line - wouldn't happen to have a cabin in yllas would you phil aka laplander9
Hello there! :)
I think it also depends on what you wish to do. Lapland is full of great resorts and places to see. For example there is Ylläs, Levi, Luosto and Ruka that are all worth checking out. (Ruka is my favorite thou!)
There is also the Santa Park in Rovaniemi. I have never been there since it was built after I grew a bit too old for that, and it is not really the most attractive destination for a student I presume. But nontheless, if you plan on doing something with kids, I think you should check it out!
I hope you will enjoy Winland!
