Looking at going to Lapland pre xmas, and wanting our 2 young children to experience all there is too offer ie Santa, reindeers, huskies, igloos etc in a 3-4 day break.

Not overly keen on commercial ventures, dont want to get caught up with package tours from UK.

Any thoughts and help please

some of the package tours from the uk are excellent so don't rule them out - companies such as activities abroad and even esprite could offer you what you want

the other option is to go with inghams on either their week long stay or their santa break and you can then organise your trips independantly

Hello there!

Are you planning on staying in one place only, or maybe going around for a bit? If you are not planning on staying in one spot, then your options are more open if you are planning your own trip. For example you could go to Rovaniemi first to visit the Santa Park and then head further into Lapland to experience our winter a bit more.

as your break is short I would stick to one place and as for the santa park in rov - if you don't like commercial places then check it out first as it may not be to your taste

also - as you only have a short time I think you should look into the package deals but stay away from companies such as cantebury, transun etc as they are going to be too commerical I thinks

inghams do a 3 and 4 night santa break that does not include any trips, these you can book seperately and I have already mentioned the other two companies so check them out and see what you thinks

as for where to go - if you are going early dec then go as far north as possible so the ensure as much snow as possible, look at saariselka - it is lovely there
