I went to Pallas, Lapland for 4 nights last december with my husband and a 6 year old. We went with first choice and stayed at the Snowy Wilderness Lodge which is set in the most beautiful national park. Completely secluded. The good thing we found with this hotel was it was all-inclusive (or santa-clusive as they called it). This saved us lots of money as drinks etc are extremely expensive in Finland. We had 5 on-site elves which were around the hotel each and every day and night. 2 resident entertainers and 2 resident reps, all of whom were fantastic. There were the usual huskie rides, reindeer and snowmobile rides which you get tasters of and can pay then to do them again for much longer but we found the taster rides were enough and they were pretty expensive.
There were free sledges outside the hotel and a proper toboggan run which was lit up at night. There was entertainment all day and every day but if you fancied wandering off into the national park you could do or just go sledging etc. For thekids there was mini disco's at night, storytime with Frosty the Elf, Elf school plus lots more. One night the reps and elves had arranged a winter olympics challenge which involved jumping into deep snow (long jump) and toboggoning which was really good fun.
There was just an amazing atmosphere there and everyone was so friendly. Its is purely for english people too. Santa was extremely convincing and everthing you could ever wish for. After everyone had seen santa on the last night (the gala night) the elves set off a fabulous firewors display.
I hope you find the experience you are looking for and if you want any further information, please let me know.
