the villa armas are not far from the akas hotel which where the trips leave from and most people stay etc
the cabins are well equipped and big, just becareful though as the car port area that you will need to walk though for some of the cabins can have a layer of ice underfoot if the temps are really cold
we stayed there for new year a few years ago and we had several days of -28 as the lake keeps the village icy cold where as up at the ski resort it was a good 10 degrees warmer
on new years eve there is a firework display you can pay to go to by personally I would not bother, just go down to the lake and watch them for free - one thing though - everyone just seems to set of fireworks all over the place, kids are running around with them etc so just make sure you are away from the nutters, there will also be lots of Russians there who can be a bit chaotic with their fireworks - if you fancy buying fireworks you can do so at the supermarket - we took out fire lanterns and set them off - they were amazing and all the locals loved them but make sure you get the ones without the wires as these can hurt animals if they eat them
you will have an amazing time
