Hey People

I am looking for some suggestions, I intend to book a holiday to Lapland for mines and wifes 30th Next December, Now I know it's a year away but I thought this would be the best time to ask questions.

We are looking through websites, But can only seem to find First Choice holidays, is this right?

We are looking for cottage/Cabin style, With private Sauna, pref HB or AI

1 - Where do you recommend?

2- Did you buy the appropiate outfits in the UK or there? Ie showsuits

Thanks

Robert

Here's a list of UK tour operators.

http://www.visitfinland.com/en/web/guest/finland-guide/travel-facts/travel-agents/tour-operators?sq_MarketingAreas=1393&sq_OperatedRegions=6

First Choice are pretty Santa orientated so may not be the first choice (see what I did there?) for a romantic double 30th birthday celebration.

PS Most UK operators will provide the main winter clothing. Thermal long johns are a bit more personal though, best get your own:-)

there are lots of companies that will take you to lapland

if you want a week stay in a cabin etc then look at inghams, nelsen ski and first choice - if you want the whole santa experience then look at espirit etc and if you want the santa experience but less commercial then look at someone like activities abroad

that time of year is the most expensive and it is the one time that will get booked up but given that inghams still have places now maybe you don't need to book so early, however they do give an early bird offer so it maybe something you want to look into

as for clothing, you can either hire the outer suits or get them yourselves, look at http://www.lapland.fruitbandit.com for clothing advice

there are lots of places to go in lapland, do your research and look at the reviews here as they all do vary a lot

Hi,

Yeh,the Inghams early bird offers are a good deal.Have a look on their site or pick up a brochure and start browsing for what you feel meets your needs accomodation wise etc and get a starting point to the trip.If you are buying your own clothes then TKMAX if you have one is great for bargains on jackets, salopettes, ski sox ,gloves etc.You can usually grab an even better bargain at the end of the season too.We generally book in January for December and it may feel a long way off but it soon comes around. You will have a great and memorable time.xx

Hi We have been to Yllas and Ruka already...and going Dec 12 to Yllas with Inghams Polar Cabins. Booked a few weeks ago and got unbelievable bargain as early season and suspect not many people consider Finalnd for downhill (excellent for beginners and intermediates (like us oldies) although you can also cross country through the forests from the door for free as well. Look at (www, yllas.fi) for the slope map and up to date weather. I will post a review on the cabin when we get back. Dave Southampton.

This really depends on what you want. If it's skiing then get yourself on a plane with Inghams to Yllas, Levi, or best in my opinion, Saariselka,

However, if you want to see the Lapland beyond the ski resorts then I would recommend considering other trips.

But there's no doubting that Inghams are the cheapest way to go but that's because it's tourism on a larger scale (although there's no such thing as mass tourism in Finnish Lapland thank god!).
