Which company should we use to travel to lapland??

There seems to be such a choice of companies going to Lapland!

We have been looking at Espirit - which looks good. But if you go with First Choice for instance you seem to have more time in lapland for the sam price.

Is what they offer the same and which is the best value for money

Any help gratefully received!

How long do you plan on staying, a few nights or a week?

What are you planning to do whilst in Lapland? Are you after an all in Santa break, a ski holiday or a bit of both?

If you are after a 'once in a lifetime' Santa break then a company like Canterbury Travel or Espirit, although expensive, are definitely worth looking into.

Otherwise, go with a ski company like Inghams to get there, and then book any trips you like the look of whilst you are in the resort. You don't have to ski just because you travel with a ski company.

Thanks

Yes we are looking for an all in Santa break. We'll only be doing it once so want to get it right! Don't mind payuing a little more if we get a better trip.

Thinking of a 3 night break ideally.

travelling in the winter from the UK has the risk of being too snowed in here and you may not be able to travel, lots of online companies or independants will not offer financial protection which means if your flight is cancelled you might not get your money back even with insurance, so make sure you book with a company that offers ATOL and ABTA protection, any of the high street agents such as Thomson, First Choice and Thomas Cook all have this.

Utter rubbish from Sinaed91

The small independents offer just the same financial protection as the mass-market companies. They have to by law.

They also provide far better holidays because they treat you as a customer not a number.

We are also looking for a good quality once in a lifetime trip to lapland and i think we have pretty much decided on Transun's Sleep in Heavenly Peace package. It costs more than most trips but includes 4 nights full board accommodation, 40 min Husky Experience, 1 hr Snowmobile Adventure, Search for Santa, Private meeting with Santa, Reindeer Slay-ride, kids snowmobiles, Claus craft activities, festive dinner etc etc. I noticed with First choice that you don't get a private meeting with santa and their trips only include taster rides which are only about 5-10mins long so i've read. We decided we wanted a more real laplandish experience rather than the offerings from First choice which seem to be based in the very commercial areas. I guess it depends on what you what to get out of your adventure. I have spent the past 2 weeks delving into all potential brochures online and off and are now to the point where the decision is pretty much made. This is an expensive once in a lifetime trip as our son is 8, will be 9 in Jan so we've pulled all our purse strings to be able to do it now, before the magic of Santa disappears. There's a lot of choice out there, so be sure to check all...i'm sure you will find the perfect trip for you and your family xx Esprit, First Choice, Canterbury Travel, Monarch all do trips :D

I have checked out all reviews from all companies and not one company goes without negative reviews. I have found that the transuns reviews here on tripadvisor still gets 4 stars of positiveness as does other brands. The reviews all across the brands both have very bad negative feedback and also very good. I think we all take chances with every holiday booking no matter who with and where. At the end of the day we all want a good holiday but i'm not naive in knowing problems can and do happen....thats just life. If you have read any of transuns recent feedback you will notice that people who went, went with trepidation because of the negative feedback, which is of course only natural, but ended up thoroughly enough. Yes Transun had issues (big ones) back in 2009....i am fully aware of this and see from last years feedback, the issues are better. I found most people's complaints generally be about the food....which is daft due to where they are? Take a look at all the other companies feedback and you will see, they are not perfect either!!!!

I was just pointing out that there had been many issues and just warning you - what you do with that info is up to you but you seem incredabliy defensive towards some helpful advice

as for the food - its finland, not outer space so there is no excuse for poor quality food and as for other companies, yes, there are issues with all of them but transun easliy has three times the amount of bad reviews and negative forum posts than the others put together

your money, your choice but dont come here asking for advice and then not like what you are hearing
