Transun, heavenly peace anyone?
Save

Hi, like so many others on this forum I plan to visit Lapland in Dec 2013 with my 5 & 8 year old.

I want a truly magical visit, with Santa, husky rides, reindeer rides and no naff debenhams feeling experience.

I have been looking at the Transun Heavenly Peace 4 night break. Has anyone travelled with Transun, or can anyone advise the best package.

All advice appreciated. Also, lodge or hotel?

Thanks in anticipation

No experience with them but believe Transun have very poor reviews on here so do research them as I was advised against going with them by various forums etc

I have booked with thomsons but can't comment yet as we only go in 5 weeks!

Esprit and inghams both get good reviews too.

I think esprit are supposed to be the best though? I booked with thomsons purely as they use the same hotels and resort as esprit but are about £1000 cheaper!

Esprit offer Santa style packages whereas with inghams you can travel for a week for less and book Santa/ trips etc when there as extra.

Cosmos also offer a good week-long package going from Gatwick which looked great but Gatwick too far for me. Not sure about reviews for them though.

Transun gets so controversial reviews that heavenly peace in the same sentence makes me laughing aloud. Anyway would avoid places like Kaaresuvanto where there's only one operator and no other activities than those offered by the same company.

Thank you....it's just so important to get it right when it's probably a once ever trip. I'll price up esprit but like everyone, cost is a factor.

Thanks, Poe.tuesday, who would you say offers the most magical experience?. I've spent 3 days trying to work my way through reviews and I'm more confused than when I started!

I have been to Lapland twice now I looked at transun last year, I was told they often cancel the holiday at the last minute and ain't reliable.. I was also told you get all your activities in with the price but there's nothing else around not even a shop I googled earthed the areas and there is nothing at all to do... We went to yllas over Xmas 2012 it's like Narnia it's perfect, quiet place with a few bars n resturants which blend in, a supermarket a couple of shops, a Santas place and quite a few places where you can hire snow mobiles do husky trips not at tour operators prices.. Best place in Lapland enough to do but very unspoiled.. We stayed ai the snow elf with Thompson it was a great setting. We upgraded from the hotel to a apartment with sauna it was great... The rooms in the hotel I wouldn't stay in one it was small and outdated...

espirt, thompsons, crystalski, inghams, cosmos and activities abroad are the main ones, then look at companies like cantebury too

there are companies such as santadays that sell all of the above holidays, they are like a travel agents for lapland, have a look at them as they often have good prices but also be mindful that they could be selling you a holiday with transun

Thanks Suzieq and Poe.tuesday, I'll look at Thomson as a starter, I like the sound of yllas from what you've said, it sounds about the right balance, I'm avoiding anything that sounds too commercialised, and that seems about right.

I had started looking at esprit, nealy fainted at the price!

Thanks again
