Elf Adventure or Christmas Fantasy???
Save

Hi, i am travelling with my 9 yr old son, he is on the cusp of not believing in Santa anymore and i'm hoping that our trip to Lapland will restore his belief (even for just a little while longer!)

I think the Elf adventure sounds great for kids, i was just concerned that it might be aimed at children a lot younger and i worry whether that might confirm his disbelief, any advice???

Also, i think the Christmas Fantasy event sounds magical although i've not seen anyone mention it on TA yet. Has anyone experienced this? And is a seat at the Christmas table included in the price?

Thank you in advance for any replies!

I did the Christmas Fantasy with my 8 year old daughter today. The brochure said it was 6-9pm, but we were back by around 7:45pm. We left Santa Claus Hotel at 5:20pm and it took half an hour to get to Sonka, where they hold the theater. The show itself I would say is pretty believable, my daughter was in awe during the whole thing, but she especially liked a part where they had an effect with people wearing black clothing and what looked like glow in the dark blue capes dancing in the night. The effect it gave was really cool. She turned to me and asked if they were fairies. The elves are children that looked to be around 8-14 and they did a really good job acting. Towards the end the give you to eat hot rice with berry sauce you get to see Santa riding a reindeer sled from far away. The only thing that was not as believable was Mrs. Claus' fat suit ;) - I think a child wouldn't really notice though. Overall, a wonderful experience. They don't let you take pictures though, so don't bother bringing a camera. They make it very clear before going into the forest "this theater is for your hearts, not your cameras". Enjoy your trip!

You can't book online, I'm not sure if you can book by phone. Tickets are sold at the tourist information office. We found it to be closed, but since it was not listed as sold-out on the website, I decided to go try our luck by going to the bus and asking and they were sold on site, and it ended up they sold them at the bus. The bus parked at the Santa Claus Hotel about 25 minutes prior to departure. Not sure how often the info is updated, but you can check this link for show times and if tickets are still available. For example, the 6pm show on the 20th is listed as sold-out.

No problem! Hopefully they reply to you soon, especially with it being the Friday before Christmas and the night before being sold-out. I would actually try just giving them a call to be on the safe side.

Have a safe trip & enjoy!

The Christmas Fantasy was amazing! And although we didn't do the Elf Adventure, many people we travelled with did and said that it was ok but nothing special. I guess it's up to the individual

I think that it is the "secret" magical aspect of the Christmas Fantasy show. You cant take pictures (although they allowed us a couple after people had started leaving for the coach), and the elves are mostly children which really convinced my 9yr old.

We spent 100's of Euros on different excursions but this show (only 30€) was the most surreal, magical experience of all.

I recommended it to everyone staying at our cottages with children.

You have to book via the Tourist Information centre in Lordis Square, Rovaniemi. None of my travel reps had even heard of it.

Another money saving tip is to visit the Husky place at Santas Village, instead of 200€ through Thomsons, i paid only 60€ (for 2 of us) for a 20min ride and we spent around 45mins visiting inside the dog pens, handling the pups (from 3weeks old to 6mth) and speaking to a very informative helper.

I hope you and your family have an amazing time in Lapland x
