we're travelling as a family of 4. does anyone have any place to recommend where they have family rooms or apartments?
Perhaps the best place to begin your search -
the Vienna Tourist web site
go to hotel and information section
by inserting hotel- then quad room you can find available rooms in the hotel section
insert apartments - then find available apartments-
a quick and easy way to find many places.
Pension Pertschy has rooms for 4. Great location, too. We were able to get four nights yet pay for three.
thanks a lot everyone! I'll check that out
hippo!
We just returned from a week-long stay at Apartments Augarten (http://members.chello.at/walkner/gallerie/), and we would recommend them. There were four of us (my husband, my parents-in-law, and me), and we found the apartment to be very comfortable -- spacious, clean, well-equipped, and with a convenient location. It's not right in the city center, but it's a short tram ride or about a fifteen minute walk to Schwedenplatz.

Did you eat at Beatrix's restaurant?
No, we didn't eat in the restaurant -- we usually just had pastries from the bakeries for breakfast, and ate dinner wherever we happened to be in Vienna. (The one time we were back in the evening, the restaurant seemed to have a lot of people smoking.)
Yes, smoking is a regular occurance in Wien. We usually go out in the mornings to the local Anker and get the wonderful semmel rolls and bring them back to our apt....add a little local jam and butter...breakfast!
