Huddersfield to Holmfirth |
|
Bus services in rural areas tend to be a bit scarce but anyone more familiar with the area could probably put me right. However, as the distance is only 6 miles I would suggest a taxi would be your easiest option and shoudn't cost too much either.
|
Thanks, Sonix, for the reply. Glad to hear it is only 6 miles between the two. I agree with that type of distance a taxi would be our best option.

Are you a 'Last of the Summer Wine' fan then? It's not very far between the two, taxis and local buses are available and its really lovely countryside. Holmfirth is only little, and has a few nice cafes and restaurants. I live not far from there actually.

I do watch Last of the Summer Wine, and know from that show that Holmfirth must be a cute little area. I must admit that did help make my decision to humor my cousin (who is traveling with me) and try to get there for the Paul Carrack concert. She is a huge fan of his, and I decided that would be a nice change after spending a few days in London. Must be beautiful countryside where you live...I envy you!

Hi, I used to live in Holmfirth so I know the buses quite well. From Huddersfield bus station you can get the following number buses, 310,311,312,313,314,316. Some will go through small villages and other are more direct. They run very frequently through the day (also sundays) you should be able to get one every 15 mins. Hope this helps. Enjoy Holmfirth.

Where are you staying when you go to Holmfirth? The Picturedrome, where your gig is, is an old cinema, and is a pretty cool place. I didn't even realise it had gigs on until I read your e-mail!

Clare58, I really appreciate you taking the time to leave the bus information for Holmfirth. That gives us an option to choose a taxi or bus and could be very helpful. The little villages are always so pretty too, and if we are given some extra time the bus may even be our better choice. The fact that they do run on Sunday is wonderful to know since he has a Saturday night show. I tend to be a planner and don't like surprises so I thank you very much!

Wizzby, Unsure about lodging at this point. Everyone has been so good about answering our transport questions so we can start looking into that now.

The following web site will help you with public transport all around West Yorkshire (where Huddersfield and Holmfirth is) - www.wymetro.com. A one way taxi journey from Huddersfield to Holmfirth will cost around £8 or $14 for both of you. They are readily available from early morning to late at night outside Huddersfield bus station and train station. Getting back to Huddersfield late at night is fairly easy, however you will have to book a taxi in advance. Try www.yell.com and look for Huddersfield taxi companies. There are literally dozens in the Huddersfield area.

Thanks very much Outonalimb for the additional bus and transport information. I will check out the web site you provided for sure. I was very concerned about getting from Holmfirth back into Huddersfield after the show Saturday night, and could not decide if a hotel in Huddersfield or Holmfirth would be best...you just answered that question, and I am most grateful. Thanks for writing a reply!
