What is the best way to travel from Milan airport to Madonna Di Campiglio?
Take the Airport bus to Milano Centrale
Train Milan to Trento
www.trenitalia.com for Italian trains.
Please note only Regional Italian train services service Trento. All the cross border Intercity trains from Verona to Austria/Germany which stop at Trento are German/Austria trains. Unfortunately for over a year now the Italians (after much arm waving and throwing toys out of the pram) stopped co-operating with the Germans/Austrians on tickets/pricing. More recently (more toys thrown out of pram) they have stopped showing many, sometimes all, of the Intercity services in Italy which are German Italian trains.
The local bus takes just over 2hrs from Trento

Milan has 3 airports. Without specifying which one you are going to use, whatever information we may give you might be incorrect.
You should also specify the day of the week you plan to travel, as there are direct bus services on certaind days.Edited: 18 January 2011, 12:19
We can fly into and out of either Milan Malpensa or Milan Linate. We would be arriving at the airport on a Friday and leaving on a Thursday. Is one airport better than the other?
Thanks for your help!
Thanks, this is very helpful.
We also are considering renting a car and just driving...is this a crazy thought? How long would it take? How are the roads?
The roads are surprisingly good, but I wouldn't consider driving in a country I'm not familiar with after a transatlantic flight. You'd also need to make sure you had parking in Madonna di Campiglio.
If you are planning to drive I would strongly recommend you use a sat nav device. The route is quite complicated, I did it last year and am again travelling there on Friday. It is well worth it, the resort is great and the skiing is good for all levels particularly intermediates and beginners.
In terms of public transport, there is not much difference between landing at LIN or MXP. Linate is closer to the city, but has no rail link, while Malpensa has a train station, with a new service going to Milan's central statikon where you can make connections to anywhere in Itaqly.
The direct bus from Milan's city bus station to Madonna di C. only leaves on Sat and Sun, so it's useless in your case, and also the othe direct bus from Brescia seems to have been discontinued.
Could someone please tell about the direct bus from Milan to Madonna Di Campiglio? Where can we check the schedule and where does it leave in Milan from (near the Central Station of some different place).
Thanks a lot in advance
Here's the schedule: autostradale.it/pdf/inverno10_11/INVERNO2CAM…
It leaves from Milan's bus station, next to the Lampugnano metro stop. every Sat and Sun until April 25. Advance reservation is essential.
