Can anyone suggest which places we should visit on our once in a lifetime trip to Australia in January 2012? We are a couple of 50 year old ladies; we like to swim and love beaches and cities and would enjoy learning about the natural environment.
We wanted to go to Port Douglas and Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reefe and Rain Forest and then travel to Sydney and Melbourne and Brisbane. But we have been told about the jelly fish and the climate at that time of year in Northern Queensland. Should we forget North of Brisbane and go south?
We have to go to Sydney for a few days and Melbourne but other than that we can go anywhere. We hope to stay for about 3 weeks. Should we start at Brisbane and move down the coast, maybe going as far as Adelaide? What is there to see if we choose this route and would you recommend it as an alternative to going as far north and Cairns and Port Douglas in January? By the way we cannot change the dates of travel. Suggestions for places to stay, accommodation and trips would be appreciated.
