Have checked old posts and see recommendations for Perotta's and the Coffee Club. Are these still good for breakfast? Any other suggestions?
I have no idea as getting into town for breakfast would be a remarkbale feat for me lol..lunch I can just about be ready for :)
In case no recent breakfast eaters come along and help out I have heard some enjoy the Salt House for breakfast. I went for lunch and service was poor and food a little over fussy for my liking but it was new business at that stage so perhaps is good now. the location is lovely. You will walk around the boardwalk along the waterfrot to the end and it is located on the peninsular there.

Another I hear about a lot actually is Lilypad Cafe.
Lilypad is at 72 Grafton Street.
Check out Rusty's market for great coffee or breakfast at Tamarind for a unique "personal buffet". No other restaurant offers breakfast like this and it is truly wonderful.
If you’re staying at the hotel (or even if you’re just looking for a delicious breakfast somewhere in Cairns city), Hilton serves a full buffet breakfast every day. When we ate there recently we didn’t even need lunch! There was so much food, we simply couldn’t try everything – fresh fruit and juices, a full western-style buffet with bacon, eggs, sausages, toast etc, Japanese breakfast options such as rice and miso, plus a variety of cereals, pastries, cheeses and meats. Excellent service and a delightful outlook over tropical gardens and out to the water. We'll be going back again, and happily recommend others try it too.
