We’re going to Prague and Vienna, and I’d appreciate feedback on our very tentative plans. After spending time in Prague, we want to visit Křivoklát Castle, Karlstein Castle and Orlík Castle, Olomouc and Šternberk, Třebíč, Telč, Třeboň and Český Krumlov. Also, while In the Czech Republic, we’d like to travel to the Peace Churches near Wroclaw, Poland (in Gmina Świdnica, Jawor and Brzeg), then go to Vienna and Salzburg and fly home from Vienna.
Is the best way to do this by spending a few days in Prague, then rent a car in Prague, and do a loop NE to Poland, and then back to Olomouc and on to Český Krumlov and then on to Austria where we return the car?
If not, is there some other way of doing the trip?
Also, if we rent a car, should we drive to the three castles (Křivoklát, Karlstein and Orlík) which are to the West of Prague, and a bit out of the way, or is it possible to get public transportation to the castles and do them before renting the car?
What do you think of the following timing for the Czech part of the trip:
Prague and the castles—5 days
To churches in Poland via Kutna Hora—stay 2 nights in Wroclaw
Go to Olomouc area—2 nights
Go to Cesky Krumlov via the 3 T’s –stay in Cesky or one of the other towns for 2 nights (which town would you recommend?)
Then about a week in Austria.
Thanks for your help.
