We're currently planning to do it by bus to Dangriga and by air from there to Placencia. This was the recommendation of a local travel agent, but we're open to other suggestions.

we are going to be doing the same thing in late april. going from black rock lodge to placencia on april 29th and do NOT want to pay $250 for the drive that the lodge charges. any ideas? advice? tom-

Four of us are planning to rent a car and drive from San Ignacio to Placencia next week. I was told that with the exception of the last few miles on the Placencia peninsula, it is a decent paved road. It is definitely the cheapest way to go.

The cheapet way to get from San Ignacio to Placencia is by bus. Buses leave every 30 mins from San Ignacio to Belmopan. From Belmopan you can catch a bus to placencia. Its really cheap prob less than 15 US total but these buses do stop along the way and it does take quite a bit longer. But the trip down to placencia is one of the most scenic routes, if u have no rush this is the most economical.
