Hi Koikichi,

I have stayed at Shumba camp and it is fantastic. The views from the camp overlooking the plains are really incredible, and one can often see herds of lechwe, puku and other game, including Lion and Cheetah, from the lodge. This is one of my favourite camps.

I have not yet had the priviledge of staying at Lafupa tented camp as it has recently been opened, but I have heard that it is equally as good, however not quite the same standard of accommodation as Shumba.

So if you were to combine the two, I would suggest spending about 3 nights at Lafupa first and then moving onto Shumba for 3 - 4 nights (depending on flight schedules as flights to the park do not operate daily).

Both camps are in different areas of the parks, so you will have a different experience at each of them.

Let me know if you have anymore questions,

Janine

Hi - I have stayed at both Lufupa and Shumba before. Lufupa is a superb little camp located on the banks of the Lufupa river - basic accommodation but fantastic, all you really need. Activities include the best night drives I have been on and then boating activities. Its a great camp. Shumba is alot more luxurious and the Busanga Plains are beautiful. Although game viewing is not prolific, it is very different from other areas and you should see the lions, as well as puku and all the other usual game. Great camps and a great combination - it will be well worth it.

Haven't been to Shumba but can highly recommend Lufupa. I agree the night drives are fabulous. We were surrounde by a pack of 30+ wild dogs and a couple of hyenna one night... Eerie and unforgetable.

The location allows for stunning sunset boat rides and if you like you can go fishing and catch plenty.

The staff is great, very layed back and outgoing.
