Hotels in Phnom Penh for family of 4

Hi everyone

We are two adults and two children aged 15 and 10 years. Planning to spend 3 nights in Phnon Penh in June next year. Looking at spending around $40US per double/twin room or $80US for a family room. The standard rooms at the Billabong sound a bit small and the Kabiki has mixed views. Not sure from the Kabiki website whether the double/bunk bed rooms - $75US are suitable for teenagers. A few reviewers commented that the bunk beds were for small children. Can anyone clarify?

Are there any other options in this price bracket? Prefer a pool and hot breakfast included close to attractions.

Also looking at City River Hotel for Siem Reap (4 nights) and The Reef Resort for Sihanoukville (5 nights).

Thanks for your help.

Eveline

While triple rooms are fairly common, there are not many rooms meant to accommodate 4 people, unless you want to sleep two in 2 double beds. The rooms are not always that spacious, either, and you'd probably be better off just getting two rooms. You could request that the rooms be next to each other. If you are concerned about the budget for this, do know that there are plenty of very clean guesthouses in the $15~$20 range all over Cambodia.

Have a look at this page for some examples-

I would recommend getting two separate rooms. Try the Blue Lime Hotel...

The Blue Lime is well over that budget. And I believe they do not allow children to stay there.

Hi,

We stayed in a family room at the Billabong last June (2 parents, 13 y/o and 11 y/o). I believe there was a queen size bed and single; they added a cot. Close quarters for sure, but we didn't really spend time in the room except to sleep. We found it well worth the trade-off; my kids loved the pool and the friendliness of the young staff. The travelers staying there were interesting and diverse - from many countries, singles, families. Breakfasts (and other meals) are great, and there are always tuk tuks just outside. Internet access is fast and easy if that makes a difference to your kids. It's a little out of the way, but so easy to get around by tuk tuk. The reviews on TA are pretty accurate I think; our cost was right around $80 including breakfast.

Thanks SanFrancisco, Maneki-neko and Georgehu

Im having a look at the recommendations in Canby publications at the moment but will consider the family room option at the Billabong - price is certainly good. Am still keen to get feedback on the Kabiki family rooms with the bunk beds - has anyone stayed there?
