I am currently in Bishkek on a student visa. This visa expires on May 31st. I am planning to travel to Almaty after Bishkek, and my Kazakh visa begins on June 1st.
I know that I can get the Kyrgyz visa extended, but I believe this will cost about $50 USD that I'd rather not spend.
What are your thoughts on the following two potential plans:
1) Attempt to leave Kyrgyzstan on the morning of June 1st with a visa that expired the day before.
2) Embark for Almaty around 10:30pm on May 31st, pass the Kyrygyz border control before midnight, wait around until after midnight, pass the Kazakh control after midnight, catch a car to Almaty on the Kazakh side.
I know neither of these ideas seems particularly intelligent, but again, I'd rather not spend money to extend the visa when an extra 12 hours is all I would really need.
