Hi, me and my girlfriend are arriving in Sri Lanka on June 5th early morning, I have been told to get the train from Veyangoda to Kandy rather than Colombo to Kandy as Veyangoda is closer to the airport. Will this most probably mean that all the seats are taken. Me and my girlfriend really wanted to sit in the 1st class observation cart, but are the chances of this low if we join the train at a later point than fort. How about booking tickets, is it possible to pre book seats for our Kandy trip and then Kandy to Ella?
Finally we are thinking of getting off the train en-route to Kandy at Rambukkana so that we can visit Pinnewala, is this before the train journey become scenic therefore making a observation cart pointless. If this is the case we would have to try and get an observation cart from Rambukkana to Kandy. Or are observation carts not even worth the hassle?
Any advice on Sri Lankan train seating would be much appreciated
