The closest branch you got from Myeongdong/Insadong area would be 'Gyeong-bok-gung Station Branch', 150 meters north of Line 3 Gyeongbokgung metro station,

or 'Dongdaemun Branch' near Dongdaemun Station, Lines 1 & 4. (actually equidistance from all four surrounding metro stations, including Dongmyo-ap Station, Lines 1 & 6, and Sindang Station, Lines 2 & 6), 400~500 meters on foot.

As advised by DeltaEagle, the Dongdaemun, Namdaemun, Namsan Park etc.. but the best one that locals prefer is the one located in Yeoksam-dong.

How about Hot Sun Chicken, endorsed by the BOF actor Kim Hyun Joong ? It's alternative healthier choice.. coz it's not fried but grilled instead. And you never know, you meet KHJ delivers the chicken from the shop.. :))

Try Guem-nai chicken.. It's a new Chain that sells baked chicken. It is really great. The sauces are what make it though. Red for not so hot and brown for blow your head off spicy.
