Hi,
in the middle of planning a two week trip to kenya or tanzania or parts of both?
any ideas of must sees or if it is to much to fit in doing both?
thanks
Becky
Just stick to one country and I found kenya as my favourite. Kenya has a lot to see if you get the right tour operator to highlight some to you. I will send you my itinerary which we did last year and it was the best choice.
I'd agree to concentrate on 1 country, especially if the 2 weeks includes your arrival and departure day. I did the 2 weeks in 2 countries (would never do it again) my first trip and it was a lot of 1 night stays (which you never get to really enjoy the lodging/grounds and are always packing) and a lot of time spent in the vehicle. I've only done the over land trip because I like staying with the same guide. But even if you were to fly between locations, 2 countries is a lot. The only time I've done both countries is when I did it over 2.5-3 weeks. You'll see a variety of opinions as to which country. I prefer Kenya because it seems like travel time between parks is less. My favorites in Kenya are Ol Pejeta and the Mara.
I had safari of 12days and visited both Kenya and Tanzania and with two weeks you can do the same
When do you plan to travel? That might help us to give better advice.
thanks all, we are planning on going at the end of Oct to Nov. We are looking at trying to push it to 2.5 weeks with days flying
the real draw to Tanzania was Zanzibar if people thought it was worth it. We looked at doing internal flights there.
Tips on must sees in Kenya would be great so we can start looking at pulling it all together!
We have had a good time in Kenya and Tanzania for the second time.
Two weeks are enough if you only factor in the safari without a beach break.
Here is how we spent the 15 days; All done overland.
We arrived at 0545 Hours and drove straight to Amboseli.
2 Nights Amboseli
2 Nights Tarangire
2 Nights Ngorongoro
3 Nights Serengeti
3 Nights Maasai mara
2 Nights split between Nakuru and L. Naivasha
2 Nights Ol Pejeta
Departing on the last day straight after Ol Pejeta. Our outbound flight not until 1100 Hrs.
It is possible to do both as long as you set your priorities right.
