Ah! My favourite time to go south in Ukraine. From end-Sep till early Oct (it slightly varies from year to year) there's an Indian summer season. The weather is nice, often sunny; but even if cloudy, the mid-day av. temperature goes to about 15-18C; the sea often warm enough to swim (if you’re ok with swimming in less than 18-20C). There’s less tourists on the beach and in the water (except probably on week-ends). Prices go down compared to the high season. It might rain occasionally – you know, there’s no guarantees when it comes to weather – but generally the weather is just fine!

I would say October is already off-season in Odessa. Should you be lucky with Indian-summer, then you may enjoy the city, but the beaches are nearly empty even on weekends (I would say 3% of the number of people you meet in July or August). The nightlife is still fine, but not at the clubs that are near beaches and frequented in hot months, but you find attractive places in city-centre, that are running on year-round basis.

I went to Odessa at the end of October 2007 and all I can remember is the rain. The weather was pretty much the same as the UK but I may have just been unlucky. I remember Kiev in September the same year was hot enough to sunbathe and the locals seemed to accept that as normal.

Right you are, Honoraevans, but mainly if we're talking about mid to end October – mostly rainy.

As for late Sept - early Oct, as mentioned before, the chances are to catch a mild sunny “velvet” season.

Low season starts in October. It's warm but it raisn from time to time. From other side you have good chance to rent good apartments at low cost because it's off season. October is good for travellers to save on money.

Today october 2009 is really rainy. It depends from your aims of visit. I think best time to view sights - winter, spring - enough mild and not many tourists, more cheap hotels and apartments.
