Booked this hotel..Thought I'd give the new renovation a try. I've heard nothing but bad things about it when it was run by the previous mgmt. Anyone heard any news about the renovation? I understand it doesn't open til Memorial Day wknd. I figure since I'm going soon after the re-opening they should be really trying to impress clients...right??

Since it hasn't reopened after sale/renovations you have the opportunity to be among the first.

It's hard to tell from the few pictures they have on their website. It looks like some rooms with the huge Jacuzzi's has undergone major renovations. However, there are pictures of red rooms, which are probably the old Claridge Ruby rooms with some minor sprucing up. Your experience might depend on what category of room you booked. I don't know what they will do with all the space that used to be devoted to the casino? I'm anxious to hear some reviews.

BTW, the OP's post in another thread >>Arriving in Trenton at 3pm on a tues<< I misread→ Oopsie! I made another error. It's 'A' Tuesday, not Tuesday [as in, next week]

Anyways, I have an inkling y'all made a good choice with this hotel

We booked the most basic room because I'm cheap! I couldn't believe the price difference between hotels . com and the Claridge's website...outrageous. I ended up choosing them because their weekend rates were the best in the area. Hopefully their mgmt team has been more than "spruced up"! I am considering changing my reservation and staying at harrah's during the week, just to get the casino hotel experience. What do you guys think? I also couldn't believe harrah's weekend rates jumped up to almost 10x week night rate !

Weekend rates 10x weekday rates are very normal in AC especially from Memorial Day Weekend through the Miss America weekend. I'd consider the Harrahs stay for a couple of days to expierence the casino resort as long as you don't mind packing and moving from one side of the city to another. Harrahs is in the marina district not the boardwalk like the Claridge so you can see both casino districts in one trip.

The Claridge casino was removed some time ago. However, Bally's which is connected to the Claridge does have a freshly renovated casino.

If you 2 are up for changing properties, I suggest you go ahead & stay at the two places. I've done similar, starting in Cape May & traveling up the coast, even did something like this with my Parents, but always with an automobile. On the upside, y'all can easily catch a cab or jitney between the two hotels. And Harrahs has a nice indoor pool to hang out at during the day, as you wont be on the Boardwalk

It looks like Claridge has a Groupon for the next 10 days for anyone who wants to be a guinea pig for less. $69 for a weekday stay.
